X-ray

X-Ray Imaging

X-rays are images produced by exposing a portion of your body to a small dose of ionizing radiation. As the radiation passes through the area of your body being examined a two-dimensional picture is created for interpretation by our radiologists. X-ray exams are painless and quick.

X-ray images are used to investigate many medical probelms such as broken bones, dislocated joints, locating foreign materials, infection, heart problems, lung cancer and more.

Tomosynthesis

Mammography

Mammography is a specific type of low-dose x-ray imaging used to detect breast cancer in its early stages—before women start to experience symptoms. These procedures are invaluable as they enable specialists to see developments in the breast up to two years before it would be possible to feel them with a physical exam.

Tomosynthesis

Tomosynthesis is a type of advanced mammography, also referred to as three-dimensional (3D) mammography. The tomosynthesis machine takes multiple images of the compressed breast, capturing them across a variety of different perspectives. This prevents “blind spots” caused by overlapping tissue which can hide—or make it difficult to distinguish—cancerous developments in the breast.

Associated Radiologists uses tomosynthesis machines exclusively in its clinics.

Did you know? It is widely recommended that women over 40, or those with a family history of breast cancer, receive annual mammograms.

Ultrasound

Ultrasound is a safe, painless, non-invasive procedure, used to image numerous areas in the body to aid in the diagnostics process.
